The legendary runway that once gave rise to Howard Hughes’ aerospace empire has been transformed into Runway—a one-of-a-kind lifestyle center in Playa Vista, California. Scheduled to open in Fall 2014, Runway will become one of West LA’s finest go-to options for a large-scale, mixed-use lifestyle center that offers unique shopping, dining, entertainment and an engaging social vitality. Covering approximately 11 acres, Runway will offer nearly 221,000 square feet of retail space, 35,000 square feet of office space and 420 residential units in two phases (Summer, 2014).

Runway enjoys a prime location within Playa Vista, the first new communities in LA’s Westside in more than 50 years. Featuring residential, commercial, retail and open space only one mile from the Pacific Ocean, it’s a welcoming spot to live, work, shop and play. The location puts Runway within easy reach of LAX as well as the 250,000 residents of Manhattan Beach, Westchester, Marina del Rey, Santa Monica, Venice and Culver City.

Once known as the land where Howard Hughes built his aerospace empire, today's Playa Vista has undergone a smart growth transformation into a thriving, tight-knit community which brings together an eclectic mix of housing near work centers throughout the Westside, the beach, beautiful parks and modern office centers. Long recognized as a model "smart growth" project, Playa Vista has been billed as one of the most technologically advanced communities ever planned with fully connected telecommunications and broadband capabilities. Existing Playa Vista homes and new neighborhoods opening soon will house approximately 13,000 residents—all of whom can walk to Runway along a beautifully landscaped linear park.

Runway is ideally poised to tap "Silicon Beach," the nearby cluster of technology, Internet and entertainment companies that includes the biggest brands of today—such as Facebook, Google, YouTube, Electronic Arts, Sony, Fox Sports and Belkin, as well as leading ad agencies Chiat/Day and Deutsch, socially conscious manufacturers like TOMS Shoes, and legendary Hercules Studio (the film stage for Avatar and Iron Man 3). This captive audience of thousands of well-paid creative professionals—plus over eight million square feet of total commercial space at build-out—clearly validate Runway's incomparable location.
